Chief People Officer

We work closely with the South Western Sydney Local Health District, Western Sydney University, University of New South Wales, and have ambitious growth plans that will see us expand to be a multi-centre Institute (Liverpool, Macarthur, and Bankstown). 

Our opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief People Officer (CPO) will be responsible for leading all aspects of Ingham Institute’s People and Culture Strategy and operational plans, including talent acquisition, learning and development, industrial relations, employee engagement, remuneration, and benefits. 

Working as an integral part of the Executive Leadership team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and executing a comprehensive People and Culture strategy that supports Ingham Institute’s organisational strategy and goals. 
  • Overseeing all aspects of the day to day People and Culture processes and services, including attracting and retaining the best talent, onboarding, systems (we use Elmo), performance management, employee relations, remuneration and benefits, and award and legislative compliance. Pivoting between the strategic and operational People and Culture requirements.
  • Provide guidance and support to our People Leaders and employees, on People and Culture related issues and workforce needs.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with our partner organisations, including Local Health District and Affiliated Universities.
  • Lead initiatives to shape and build a values based organisational culture, and enhance employee engagement, development, well-being, and retention.
  • Drive diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives throughout the organisation.
  • Ensure compliance across all People and Culture practices and policies.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and guidance to People and Culture team.
  • Staying up to date with the latest People and Culture trends and share knowledge with the team.

About you

To be successful in this role you will be driven by our purpose and want to make a difference. You ideally will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in People and Culture/HR.
  • Proven experience as a Chief People Officer, or similar senior leadership role in People and Culture who is comfortable in rolling their sleeves up and working within the operation.
  • Demonstrated success in driving organisational culture change.
  • Strong knowledge of awards and employment related legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to build rapport and relationships with employees and stakeholders at all levels, fostering a positive working environment.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks, delivering agreed outcomes.
  • A customer service mindset, with the ability to professionally liaise with employees and stakeholders, including the ability to effectively identify their needs.
  • Proactive, adaptable, positive, “can do” attitude and approach.
  • Strong communication skills with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Problem-solving skills, which are solutions focused.
  • Previous experience/understanding of working in/with Health (LHD’s) and/or universities (highly desirable).
